SARASOTA, FL (May 23) – Brides Against Breast Cancer today announced the opening of a new retail store in Lakewood Ranch with more than 1,000 gowns in all sizes. “We have a dress to fit everyone’s budget,” said Amy Paulishak, vice president, business development for the Sarasota-based national non-profit organization. “Sales of our gowns and accessories support our outreach and educational efforts around the country to empower people impacted by cancer.”

Brides Against Breast Cancer’s new 3,500-square-foot store at 6279 Lake Osprey Drive offers gowns priced from $100 up to $8,000 in sizes from 0 to 30. Private appointments and fittings are available. “For women getting married on the beach we have great lightweight options,” added Paulishak. “We also have reception dresses, bridesmaid dresses and mother of-the-bride gowns in every shape and size, along with accessories like tiaras and veils.”

Known for its original Nationwide Tour of Gowns bridal shows, Brides Against Breast Cancer holds more than 50 shows a year, with an average offering of 1,000 or more new or gently worn and designer dresses. Attendees are offered free information about programs and services available to cancer patients and their family members.

“Brides Against Breast Cancer’s mission complements and supports our wide-ranging services and programs,” said Carl Ritter, CEO, Center for Building Hope (CBH), which recently acquired the organization and moved its national headquarters to Sarasota.

The Gulf Coast Community Foundation assisted CBH with the project’s start-up funding. “At Gulf Coast, we look to strengthen nonprofits in our region so they can better meet their missions,” said Teri A. Hansen, president and CEO of Gulf Coast Community Foundation. “We are pleased to help the Center for Building Hope make this revenue-generating opportunity possible. It’s a proactive plan that will result in more vital services for our community.”

Brides Against Breast Cancer’s administrative headquarters and a bridal dress preparation center are also located in the Lakewood Ranch facility. “We welcome the tax-deductible donations of bridal gowns and accessories,” added Paulishak. “New gowns are arriving daily and we welcome every contribution.”
